As you learn more chords, you should learn more and more songs that use the new chords and consolidate the ones you know.

Playing songs is a load more fun than just practising chord changes (although that can be VERY helpful!) so try to find a few songs from each stage that you really enjoy and practice them as much as possible!

Stage 2 introduced the three minor chords; Am, Em and Dm - so try and find some songs that use a few of these at least, although some of the songs below are still using just A, D and E (major) chords but are a little harder to play (faster changes).

Most important is to find songs that you really love playing, and I hope between my two songbooks and the videos I've done so far you can find at least a few from each stage!

Your fingers are probably still hurting - so remember to practice a little and often and stop if the tips get very sore, and if you overdo it, take a few days (or a week) off to let them heal!

On this website, you will find a selection of songs that I have arranged just for you special Stage 2 Beginner guitarists! Most of them will be found in my Beginner Songbook 1Beginner Songbook 2 or my Beginner Song Course App. As well as being awesome products, remember that buying stuff helps support more free lessons :)

Play Along With Original Recordings!

Playing along with the original recordings is great fun and will help you with your rhythm feel and force you to make the chord changes faster (to keep up!) but to do this you will sometimes need to Use A Capo, a Stage 6 lesson that will be moved to Stage 1 when I next remake this course! Using a Capo means the frets will be closer together and so make it harder to cram your fingers in (especially for the A Chord) which although harder at first can also be great practice! :) I recommend getting and using a capo and playing along with the original recordings as soon as you can!

The JustinGuitar Beginner Song Course

As well as playing along with the original recordings, it can be awesome fun to play along with backing tracks... and my app does just that! There are hundreds of songs that are graded by the difficulty to play along with, as well as a One Minute Changes tracker, Chord Change Songs and exclusive video lessons! It's a pretty awesome tool for beginners, getting rave reviews and it's free to try out, so go have a look! Available for Apple iOS and Android!
