I can't believe we're already in Module 4! As we progress in our Beginner Guitar Course, your skills improve, and you become more confident with your instrument. I hope you enjoy the ride and feel more confident with your chord changes.

We'll explore important things for your guitar journey in the next lessons! First, you'll meet the metronome and develop your rhythm abilities further. By the end of this module, you should be comfortable playing one of the most common strumming patterns ever. From Nirvana to Sheryl Crow to The Beatles - you can play it with that one. We'll also get into a stretching exercise for your fretting hand.

Before We Get Started

We need to pay some attention to your guitar pick! In this module, we'll get into a slightly harder strumming pattern, and the weight of your pick will make a huge difference for you. For beginners, it's usually a good idea to stick with a lightweight guitar pick. It's much more forgiving and comfortable to use, so you'll sound better.

Also, make sure you keep the nails on your fretting hand short. It isn't easy to play stringed instruments with long fingernails simply because they get in your way. You want them short so that you can press the strings down with your fingertips. A good rule of thumb is that you shouldn't see any white parts of your nail from the back. If your nail is hitting the fretboard itself, it's too long.

What You'll Learn

In terms of new grips, you'll learn how to play the Dm chord. It might be harder, but take it easy, and you'll get there! Make sure you follow a consistent practice routine, and always prioritize the hardest chords for you.

Module 4 also introduces the metronome, but as I said, the goal is to strengthen your rhythm skills! Make sure you've got an accurate metronome, and remember: it'll all come together at some point. ;)
