Halloween - is a time to celebrate, dress up, and play fun songs. :) October 31 is coming up - what better way to celebrate than with a fun Halloween Playlist? Get your friends and family into the Halloween spirit by teaching them your guitar!

Here's my personalized playlist of song lessons that would fit that Halloween theme. These songs are mostly metal and rock to bring out the hardcore essence of Halloween. Learn them on time for the 31st and celebrate spookily!

Halloween Fun Fact!

🤯 Did you know? Halloween is an event that dates back over 2000 years. The ancient Celts had a tradition of building fires and wearing costumes to repel ghosts on the 31st of October. Pretty cool that it stuck through all these years!

8 Halloween Songs to Play on the Guitar

A lesson is available for each of these Halloween songs. They're organized by difficulty. Whether you're a beginner guitar player or more advanced, there's something in there for every guitar level. :)

Song #1 - Bad Moon Rising - Creedence Clearwater Revival

You'll learn the beginner version of Bad Moon Rising in the lesson. This version is awesome if you're a Grade 1 guitar player. You'll need your capo at the 5th fret - so make sure you have one!

You'll discover how to play it in its most basic form. As you gain confidence and improve your guitar journey, you can revisit it to add some SUS chords, strumming patterns, and accent patterns! So it's fun, even if you're more advanced in your guitar journey.

Song #2 - Time Warp - The Rocky Horror Show

Time Warp is perhaps my absolute favorite classic - and the most iconic song from The Rocky Horror Picture Show. If you've somehow never seen this movie, it's a must-see! This is a great tune for Grade 3+ beginner guitar players - and it'll get the people dancing!

Song #3 - Don't Fear The Reaper by Blue Oyster Club

I love this song - it's so easy to play & it has a great ring. This will sound even better if you have someone to play the cowbell for you! An excellent rock riff to get stuck in. This tune is great practice for Grade 3+ beginner guitar players.

Song #4 - Fade to Black by Metallica

Fade to Black is how I first understood the usage of the major scale. I was in my early teens, and I was a big Metallica fan! It was an instrumental song, central to developing my connection to music theory. In this lesson, perfect for Grade 3+ guitar players, we look at both of James Hetfield's guitar parts.

Song #5 - Sweet Leaf by Black Sabbath

Sweet Leaf is an intricate, experimental, layered song, as you can expect from a group like Black Sabbath.

For this particular lesson, I kept it as simple as possible. You'll explore some of the verses, and any novice Grade 3+ guitar player new to power chords can still play the riffs!

Song #6 - Hells Bells By AC/DC

An all-time rock classic here - loads of fun to play and some exciting parts here.

You can play it individually, or even better, have a guitar mate join you! Great groove and some fun, flashy Angus stuff. This one is suited for Grade 4+ guitar players.

Song #7 - Enter Sandman by Metallica

Yup - another Metallica song - I can't help it. Metallica songs are so great to learn on the guitar - and they're all a bit spooky. The full song is suited for Grade 4+ guitar players. It's a blast to play on guitar! Some tasty stuff to add as you learn to play, but enough for intermediate players to enjoy it as well!

Song #8 - Seek and Destroy by Metallica

Seek and destroy is a three-series lesson - so you'll be sure to have all the details you need to play this metal song! Seek And Destroy is a terrific song from Metallica's first album, Kill them All. It remains my all-time favorite of their records. Very raw and worth a listen! Lots of cool riffs in there for Grade 5+ guitar players.

Halloween Song Just For Fun!

No lessons for these tunes - but they're too fun not to include! These will be great tunes to blast while receiving trick-or-treaters or carving out your pumpkins. :) Give them a listen and get into the Halloween spirit!
