The key to learning music well is to use your ears. Don't forget that music is about sound and listening so this part of your guitar study will help you a lot more than you will realise initially.

REMEMBER to stop the vid right after the chord you are trying to identify because...

The Last Thing You Hear, Stays In Your Ear!

Take it slow and don't expect results too quickly, it will take some time develop your listening skills.

Chord Type Recognition (CQR)

Now we step things up a bit... instead of our chords having the same root notes, not the root note will change for each chord BUT note that all I want you to write down is the Quality of the chord - just of it is Major, Minor or 7.

Sound Pallete: Major or Minor or 7 (but now the root will change)

Single Sound Recognition (SSR)

The chord pallette is growing now, so there are many choices! Take your time, pause the track and write down what chords I play! Go for it :)

Chord Pallette: E, A, D, Em, Am, Dm, G, C, G7, C7, B7, D7, E7, A7, FMaj7

Chord Progression Recognition (CPR)

We have a bit more going on now - becuase the number of times I strum a chord is going to change! Sometimes I will strum a chord 4 time, sometimes only twice!! You can do it, just concentrate!

You might find that it is a good idea to listen through the whole progression first so that you know when to pause and how often I am changing the chords... just a little hint... maybe sometimes chords will repeat too, and you can hear that just by listening through the track.
