Learning songs is one of the best ways for a beginner progress. Save learning scales and technical stuff for a little later. Get in and learn some songs to get you going. Have some fun and enjoy playing the guitar :)

 

Where you going to learn songs?Well you can start here... There are some songs and lyrics on this site at TAB and Songs. There are aslo some links to places with lots more songs. Here are a few pdf files to get you going...

Of course many people just look for TAB on the internet. This can be OK for a little later but as a complete beginner you will not know when the tabs are wrong, and there are some really badly tabbed tunes floating around the internet, done by kids who have no idea, so be warned.

I STRONGLY recommend getting a good easy chord book - one with lots of songs for you to work on, maybe find a book that has stuff in it that you like, becuase everyone likes different songs.

Just learn a few easy song with 3 chords - no need to go mad - you will be learning more chords very soon and then there will be a lot more songs to choose from and they will sound better!

Some Recommended BooksHave a look around Amazon, try searching for acoustic songbook, or songbook, or easy chords and the name of your fave band. Check out the books below and then maybe look about if you like, but these ones are all pretty cool.

 

 

Onwards...

Get a few (maybe 3) songs down so you can kinda play them ok and then get onto some more chords. You shouldn't waste too much time on these because most songs need a few more chords so that is the next step... some more chords, and then you can play a whole bunch of chords :) happy people :)
